Sisters and Brothers: The Black Radical Congress (BRC) was founded in June of 1998 in Chicago to establish a grassroots network of individuals and organizations of African descent to re-invigorate a progressive program for civil and human rights in the United States. Over 2,000 people participated in the first Congress, and in the past 5 years the BRC has grown into an organization spanning several cities, involving hundreds on the ground, and attracting over 20,000 subscribers to our various listservs. Black organizers from grass-roots movements, labor unions, community organizations and other sectors have built BRC Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) across the country. Through our national Education Not Incarceration campaign and our campaing to Fight Back Against War, Racism, and Repression, LOCs work to improve the conditions of Black poor and working people by challenging the persistent legacy of racial inequality in America. Check out the BRC's Principles of Unity, and the Freedom Agenda which outlines the world we are working to build. If you agree with this perspective, please join the BRC by filling out the membership form and returning it to the address below. Help build the BLACK RADICAL CONGRESS and a Liberation Agenda for the 21st Century!
Yours in Struggle,
